Library ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥
The library at our Hawkshead Campus is well stocked with items relating mainly to clinical veterinary work and research. There is a large collection of clinical and basic science textbooks and many current journals. The collection extends online to a large ejournal and eBook selection and in print the historical journal collection dates to the first ever edition of The Veterinary Record. The Camden Campus library holds a more limited collection of print books only. The full catalogue can be searched via a link from the RVC website.
Access to library resources is free and openly available to all alumni of the college, and all are welcome to visit. The library itself has a large open plan study area and isolated study rooms. If you live locally and would like to use these facilities for private study, you may book in as a visitor and come along.
Archives
The archives are extensive as you can imagine from a college that is over 200 years old. We have many journals dating back further than online resources allow, as well as a collection of unique old textbooks. If you would like to reserve a book or journal in the collection, please email library@rvc.ac.uk; for old journals or archived items, please allow at least one business day for retrieval.
Visiting the library
Visits are by prior arrangement only. Alumni may visit the library at either campus during core working hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm), unless a prior agreement has been made with a host on site at the time of the visit. To arrange this please email library@rvc.ac.uk your details, the campus library you wish to visit, the date, and approximate time of arrival. If planning to visit the Hawkshead Campus Library and travel there by car, please provide vehicle details. Please allow at least one business days’ notice for your request to be processed. A visitor pass will be arranged and ready for you to collect from the Main Reception on arrival. Whilst on college grounds we ask that you follow any local rules and do not bring animals onto the campus.
Bookshop
The RVC also runs a bookshop from the library office at Hawkshead which offers discounts on many Veterinary Science reference books. If you would like a quote, please email bookshop@rvc.ac.uk with details of the book you are interested in purchasing (title, author, ISBN etc.). If you opt to proceed, the book(s) will be ordered for you, and we can arrange onward delivery to your preferred address on receipt; please note we are unable to arrange delivery outside of the UK. Most orders take approximately 7-10 working days to arrive and payment can be made by card over the telephone, or we can arrange to invoice your Veterinary Practice. If you still need to order through the library using a grant code, please email full details to bookshop@rvc.ac.uk and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
