 In addition to running a research group investigating tendon disease in horses and humans, Roger provides specialist orthopaedic referral services at the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥'s Equine Referral Hospital, where he is involved in lameness diagnosis, imaging and orthopaedic surgery.

Andy is undertaking research into the objective measurement of back movement, using inertial measurement units, and how it is affected by the presence of back pain. He is also investigating the interplay between lameness and back pain. 

Comparative aspects of neuromuscular disease research with translation to therapies in humans and animals, including post natal gene therapy and gene editing for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Genomic, genetic, cell and molecular approaches to investigation of the aetiology and pathophysiology of neuromuscular diseases in animals and humans.

Nicola graduated from Cambridge University in 1997. She spent nearly 3 years in first opinion equine practice in Essex before coming to the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ in 2000 to undertake a 3 year Senior Clinical Training Scholarship (residency) in equine medicine. She then went on to complete her PhD in equine laminitis at RVC between 2003 and 2004.

In January 2005 she gained became a Diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine and took up the position of Lecturer in Equine Medicine at RVC. Nicola was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2011 and to Reader in 2017. She is a European and RCVS specialist in equine internal medicine.

Jason has specialised in equine veterinary care for over 20 years qualifying from Cambridge University in 1992.  Working first in Hampshire where he developed the equine side of a mixed practice, he then went on to spend 9 years at Peter Scott Dunns equine hospital in Berkshire. Working with both pleasure and performance horses at all levels of competition, Jason developed his interest in general equine practice, stud work, lameness investigation, back problems and dentistry.  Whilst working for Peter Scott Dunns he was routinely the on duty vet at Guards Polo, including the annual Cartier Polo Gold Cup and was also duty racecourse vet at Sandown, Ascot and Kempton.  He worked in their equine hospital performing over 1500 equine general anaesthetics and dealing with their post-operative complications and care.  He also looked after the equine stud work for this large 10 equine vet practice including AI, with both chilled and frozen semen. 

In 2002, Jason moved to Hertfordshire where he joined the RVC equine practice.  He was awarded his Royal College Certificate in Equine Practice in 2003 and has since focused on developing a strong team to expand the RVC equine practice.   He was appointed an Official Measurer for the JMB in 2006.  The practice grew rapidly thanks to the dedication of the team he built up and he continues to steer and develop it in order to maintain its position as a centre of excellence dedicated to serving the horses and owners in the community.

With his other keen life interests, his wife Julia and three children, he has little time for hobbies. He hopes that one day he will return to climbing, riding and skiing.

Goncalo graduated from the University of Lisbon, Portugal and started working in the UK in 2003. After some time in practice with an equine ambulatory team in the midlands, Goncalo joined the Dubai Equine Hospital where he completed an internship at the referral hospital and was involved with high performance and competition work. He then returned to the UK where he worked in ambulatory practice in Essex before joining the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ in 2006.

Goncalo enjoys the multi discipline nature of ambulatory work, in particular equine orthopaedics, ophthalmology and geriatrics.

Anna qualified from the University of Cambridge Veterinary School in 2001 and has worked in specialist equine hospitals since then. She worked for five years in Sydney, Australia with racehorses and competition horses and joined The ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ Equine Practice in 2006. Anna gained her certificate in Equine orthopaedic surgery in 2009 and enjoys lameness investigations and all aspects of general practice.

Harold qualified from the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ in 2018 having previously completed a degree in biological sciences at the University of Exeter. He stayed on at the RVC equine referral hospital for a year working alongside specialists dealing a variety of referral cases. 

Harold then joined an equine ambulatory practice based near Windsor in Berkshire predominantly dealing with sports horses and polo ponies. He was one of the regular duty vets at Guards polo club managing an array of orthopaedic emergencies. 

Outside work he loves travelling, cooking and playing polo with his wife India. He is currently training several thoroughbreds off the racetrack to play polo but also enjoys teaching them to jump. 

Having re-joined the RVC team in Autumn 2020, Harold really enjoys the mixed nature of equine ambulatory practice but has a particular interest in sports medicine, dentistry, diagnostic imaging and surgery. 

Jess is a first opinion vet with a special interest in equine reproduction. Graduating from the RVC in 2018, she initially worked in a variety of both first opinion and hospital settings including a 12 month internship at the University of Liverpool Leahurst Equine Hospital. During this time she rotated through medicine, surgery and diagnostic imaging services, treating hospitalised patients under the guidance of specialists and taking an active role in student teaching. Jess joined the RVC Equine team in February 2021 and enjoys the variety of triumphs and challenges each day brings with life on the road as an ambulatory vet. In August 2022 Jess passed her Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Equine Practice, undertaking both reproduction focused and general practice modules to complete 3 years of part time study. 

In February 2023 Jess returned to the RVC following a 6 month sabbatical to work as a reproduction vet in Australia with world leading specialists in the subject. Here, Jess advanced her skills working with broodmares, stallions and youngstock. Jess works alongside Sam to offer equine reproductive services including articifical insemination, problem broodmare investigation and embryo flushing.
