School and College Eligibility - Widening Participation and Outreach
All Widening Participation and Outreach activity at the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ (RVC) is funded by the RVC’s Access Agreement and Widening Participation funds. In order to be eligible for our Widening Participation and Outreach activities, you must meet the essential criteria. You will be more likely to be selected if you meet a number of additional criteria.
Essential Criteria - You must meet the following criteria to apply for a Widening Participation programme at the RVC
- You must attend, and have always attended, a state-funded school or college (non-fee paying) in the UK
- Under 16 years old – You are interested in working with animals in the future
- Over 16 years old – You are interested in a career in Veterinary Medicine, Biological Sciences or Veterinary Nursing
- You must have the academic potential to attain the entry requirements for the undergraduate courses offered at the RVC
Additional Criteria - You are more likely to be selected for a Widening Participation programme at the RVC if you meet a number of the following criteria
- You attend a non-selective state school
- You attend a school with low average attainment levels for GCSE, A Level or vocational courses
- You would be in the first generation of your family to attend university
- Your parents/carers are from non-professional occupation
- You are or you have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
- You are or you have been eligible for Pupil Premium funding
- You live in a neighbourhood with a low rate of progression to higher education
- You live in a neighbourhood with a high level of socio-economic deprivation
- You are a forced migrant
- You are a young carer
- You are estranged from your family (this means that you have no contact with either of your parents)
- You are a care-experienced student
- You are a disabled student
