A word from our Editor

This Autumn sees the RVC marking its 225th anniversary, and as part of the celebrations I was invited to contribute to a panel discussion on “Striking the balance between business and welfare in all aspects of veterinary work”.

For those engaged in the business of delivering first class clinical care in our veterinary teaching hospitals, there is an additional resonance to the question as we also strive to “advance knowledge and skills in clinical practice” which means pushing at the boundaries of what might previously have been considered “acceptable”. This is driven not only by advances in knowledge and technology, but by owners willing to consent to, and pay for new and advanced procedures.
