This group has refined and developed the Lanyon bone loading model to enable joints to be similarly exposed to increased strain and thus mimic the wear and tear of over-use.

At the forefront of one biology due to the combination of molecular and cell biology, study cross-talk between skeletal tissues (bone, vasculature and cartilage), analysis of histomorphometry and microCT data This is combined with in vivo measurements of strain and function (gait analysis).

BSc(Hons) PhD
Professor of Skeletal Dynamics

Professor of Skeletal Dynamics. His research explores skeletal mechanobiology across diverse biological settings; from the role of embryo movement in the emergence of skeletal form, to how bones and joints respond to functional/ traumatic load in growth, adulthood and ageing.
