Zareen is the RVC’s Head of Research Contracts and Due Diligence. This post has been created to ensure that the RVC manages its research related contracts review, negotiation and drafting policies and processes in an effective and timely fashion having always followed accepted best practice and negotiated the most favourable terms as possible for RVC colleagues.

In order to do so, Zareen has developed the RVC’s Preferred Terms of Trade for Research Related Contracts policy document and with the support of her new team, provides academics and other colleagues within RVC and RVC Business, research contract procedures, policies and guidance.  Zareen has also developed the RVC’s Relationship Review and Due Diligence  Policy and processes for the College, heading the research related due diligence process for the Research Office.

 

Zareen moved to the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ from Imperial College London in January 2019, where she was a Contracts Manager for the biggest academic research department in Imperial College, formerly the Department of Medicine which consisted of five separate academic disciplinary divisions within the Faculty of Medicine.  Zareen was responsible for managing the Contracts team and an authorised signatory for all agreements including non-commercial and commercial research contracts up to the value of £500,000 within the Joint Research Office in the Faculty of Medicine, which is also the largest Faculty of Imperial College.

Prior to this she worked at the University of Roehampton as a Senior Quality Officer managing the University’s Learning, Teaching and Quality Assurance Committee and Collaborative Provision agreements and processes in addition to course evaluation and quality assurance. Zareen also represented the University on the HEA pilot scheme for Assessment and Feedback.

Zareen has also served as an External Examiner for the AQA Examination Board, has a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in HE, managed two European Social Fund Pan London FP7 projects, QAA inspections and programme examination boards for the largest school and college at the University of Arts, London.

She is a qualified Solicitor with a Masters Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.  Her legal experience was gained having first worked in private practice and at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Appeals, Tax and Costs department and subsequently through roles at various Higher Education Institutions.

Zareen is a Fellow of Advance HE as well as the Institute of Learning, she has previously delivered and authored legal modules for courses ranging from GCSE to Postgraduate level as an Associate Lecturer at the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins as well as other constituent colleges of the University of the Arts London and other universities for over 10 years.

Zareen has formerly been appointed and engaged by the AQA Examining Board to act as an Associate Examiner for their A level Law course. She has also been employed as an Associate Tutor for Brent Adult and Community Education ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ and delivered the GCSE Law evening course for 5 years. She has also designed, authored and delivered the Retail Law unit for the first ever online Foundation Degree in Retail Management course developed at the University of Arts London which was specially designed for TESCO, Harrods and Selfridges staff members.
