Lecturer in Veterinary Education within the LIVE Centre for excellence in teaching and learning
Claire graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in veterinary medicine in 2012. After a short period in small animal practice, she returned to Nottingham to complete a PhD in veterinary education.
Claires' PhD research focused on the development of clinical reasoning in veterinary students, and involved the creation of a novel high fidelity simulation program to improve students' clinical decision-making ability. She was extensively involved with teaching at Nottingham - particularly of final year students, and continued her veterinary work part-time at both a local practice, and with students in university clinics
After completing her PhD, Claire took on a role at the new veterinary school at the University of Surrey, where she was responsible for creating, co-ordinating and teaching the professionalism content of the new curriculum, including communication, professionalism, business, ethics, bereavement and clinical reasoning. She was also involved in development of the OSCE program at the school, and lead the veterinary education research group.
In January 2017, Claire joined the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ as a Lecturer in Veterinary Education within the LIVE Centre - the only veterinary-themed (CETL) in the UK. In this role she is part of the team that delivers the MSc Veterinary Education and is course leader for the 'Teaching and Learning in Higher Education' course aimed at residents, ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥s and research assistants.

Claire teaches on the MSc Vet Ed - including the PG Cert and Diploma in Vet Ed. She is course leader for the 'Teaching and Learning in Higher Education' short course. She is involved in teaching on the BVedMed course within the professional skills strand, and as a research project supervisor.
